MLA Style Guide, 7th Edition: Newspaper Article

This is a guide for MLA Style. It is based on the Modern Language Association of America's MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Seventh Edition.

Special Notes for Newspaper Articles

  • Omit introductory articles in newspaper titles.
  • For locally published newspapers add the city in square brackets after the name.

Print newspaper article (printed on consecutive pages) (Kissinger C2)

If an edition is named on the front page or masthead, add a coma after the date and specify the edition (e.g. natl. ed., late ed., early ed., Coastal ed.). 

If the article is printed on consecutive pages, write the page number(s) exactly as they appear

Print newspaper article (printed on non-consecutive pages)
