“T.I.P.P. ing the SCALE with Student Engagement Activities - Teaching Time-management, Intellectual-openness, Problem-solving, and Persistence” is a concept that has been evolving over several years based upon lessons learned in the classroom and previous presentations (co)presented by this presenter in academic conferences: Collaborative Health Care Simulation: Low Cost-High Impact; Student Centered Engagement: Building Patients and Students Higher Order Thinking; Building An Academic Bridge to Success; Social Intelligence in the Classroom: Student Engagement; Emotional Intelligence: What’s Your EQ?, and Successful Collaboration: Merging the Educational Gap.
These presentations have yielded positive feedback from peers, administrators, and students and align with a common goal of helping students be academically successful. In addition to lessons learned, collective feedback from students and administration has shown a need for improvement in integrating time-management, intellectual-openness, problem-solving, and persistence awareness and skills into an already busy, challenging, and robust curriculum.
Faculty and administration have noted improvement with student engagement in the classroom activities and note that students are retaining essential information relating to their course work.
