Health Literacy: Health Literacy Student Fellows Program

Project description

This project addressed the identified need by St. Lucie County to increase the dissemination of health information that is accurate, accessible, and actionable by targeting one specific demographic: college students. By combining information literacy training with consumer health research, technology, and project management students drew connections between information literacy and their own personal lives. The integrated project application component increased the amount of relevance students see in the topics. Newly developed content (learning objects) was generated from the community experts, project director, and student fellows throughout this project which was converted to learning modules and uploaded to the college library’s website for use by all, providing sustainability to this project as well as fulfilling a goal of the community health improvement plan.
