Students gain hands-on experience working with a simulator in the Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, a LEED certified building on Main campus that receives about 30% of its energy from a solar panel field and wind turbines. The Brown Center hosts classes on solar power, biofuels, sustainable building construction, geothermal systems, light technology, and nanotechnology (Krebs, 2012).
The Brown Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is one of IRSC's first LEED Gold certified buildings. The Brown Center houses donated equipment from FPL used nuclear power plant simulations to facilitate students' hands-on experience.
The William & Helen Thomas Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Center is one of IRSC's first LEED Gold certified buildings.
