Pruitt Campus Library Staff Recommendations: Deonna F.

Deonna F - "Abbott Elementary"

Abbott Elementary is a workplace comedy where a group of passionate, dedicated teachers, alongside their tone-deaf principal, strive to give their students the best education despite many, many odds. This is one of my favorite shows! It is hilarious while also revealing the severity of underfunded public schools. Highly recommend!

Audience: Adult/General Content, TV-NR

Related Media: Season 2 and Season 3 also available on DVD.

Deonna F - "Happiness Falls"

Told from the point of view of the daughter, Mia, this book follows a family's desperate search for their father who disappears after going for a walk in the local nature reserve. The only witness to what happened is Eugene, her nonverbal little brother. This book leads you through many twists and turns making it an engaging read. It taught me new information about people with nonspeaking disabilities, and provided perspectives I have never considered before. I highly recommend!

Audience: Adult/General Content

Deonna F - "The Littlest Yak"

Gertie is the littlest yak in the pack. She can't wait to grow up and be big like everyone else. But when a crisis strikes the village that only a small yak can solve, Gertie is the only one who can save the day. This book teaches children about self confidence and the value of being different! The illustrations are cute and colorful, and the rhyming prose was exciting and fun to read.

Audience: Kids

Deonna F - "A Man Called Ove"

A Man Called Ove is a funny and heartwarming story about the journeys life takes us through.
