Indian River State College's QEP team is excited to offer these professional development opportunities for all Indian River State College employees as part of the College-wide initiative, Helping Students Navigate the River. All employees are encouraged to attend.

Using AI Tools to Support Student Engagement & Retention

In this session, faculty and staff will explore hands-on examples of popular AI tools—such as ChatGPT, Grammarly, and Microsoft Copilot—and learn how to use them to craft personalized messages, provide timely feedback, and spark meaningful student interactions. You'll leave with ready-to-use ideas that can boost student motivation, streamline your workflow, and enhance retention. Whether you're new to AI or already experimenting, this session will leave you inspired and equipped to apply these tools in powerful ways.

 

Trauma-Informed Care Summit

The Indian River State College Student Wellness Team is partnering with local organizations to bring together professionals, community leaders, and residents to explore trauma-informed practices that promote healing, resilience, and stronger systems of care. The summit will feature expert insights, interactive sessions, and real-life stories that highlight the impact of trauma across all walks of life. Participants will leave with practical tools to support individuals affected by trauma.

Managing Student Challenges: Conduct & The BART Process

Join us for a focused overview of Indian River State College’s Behavioral Assessment and Response Team (BART) process. This session is designed to help faculty and staff better understand how to recognize and respond to student behavior concerns using IRSC’s established reporting procedures. We’ll review behavior levels, walk through the updated Student Incident Report form, and clarify what happens after a report is submitted. You'll also learn how the Office of Student Life assesses reports and follows up to ensure appropriate and confidential resolution.
