Listservs are a low-cost way to get the word out about a new resource. To make the most out of notifying listservs of a new open resource, the author or publisher should already be relatively active on it. It might be frowned upon to simply advertise a new resource, rather than actually interacting with community. Authors are best positioned to reach out to listservs popular in their field, while librarians can notify OER and open access focused listservs. For librarians, OER publishers, and authors involved in open education, there are several OER specific listservs.​

• SPARC Libraries & OER Forum

  (LibOER) is a listserv for academic and research libraries interested in open education

• Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) Google Group

  CCCOER was created to connect community college and technical school faculty and staff working to promote open access resource

• Creative Commons Open Education Platform Mailing List

  Creative Commons Open Education Platform Mailing List is an international mailing list for anyone interested in open educational resources, practice, and policy

• Open FL Listserv 
  In addition to having a state-wide communication channel to fellow OER advocates, by joining the listserv you will get notifications on OPEN FL events, hot topics for open and affordable learning, and hopefully much more!

• Open Textbook Network Google Group

  The Open Textbook Network Google Group is a very active OER mailing list but is only available to colleges and universities that are part of the Open Textbook Network.
