After learning about how germs spread and the power of soap, the preschoolers tried out the pepper and soap experiment. They were shocked when the pepper spread far away from their soapy finger.
After hearing about Shelley's difficulties in learning how to manage her impulses the children got to meet a real-life tortoise friend of Ms. Kim's, Ellie! Ellie the tortoise, we learned, likes the desert, not the water and she cannot even swim! Ellie also loves lettuce which the children tried to feed Ellie, but she was not hungry. The preschoolers also made a tortoise or a turtle of their own to take home and this one is guaranteed not to pee on you as Ellie did to poor Ms. Kim!
JoAnn brought one of her students to help her read to the preschoolers about how we are all alike and how we are all different. They also sang and danced along with JoAnn.

April gave the preschoolers time to draw their own families after reading this story. Many of the children made their families into animals, so we had a dog family, a cat family, and even a Bigfoot family!
